The Cinema of Dis ease

Much interest has been aroused (can we still use that word in public utterances?) by the "Olde Entomologist Microbiology Film Festival".
Extraordinary pictures that are reputed to be frames from the Fritz Lang follow-up to "Metropolis", a public Health film called "Washing your hands, kills the germs" opened the festival.
It is thought to be the first time that film has been seen outside the St. Petersburg Medical School so it would be nice if it was returned undamaged, no questions asked.

A surprisingly large crowd turned up to the 1963 East German historical drama "How St.Anthea a shop steward called Anthea brought the cure for smallpox to Bremerhaven but then lost it when the Six-Headed Dragon went a bit mental, like the capitalist oppressors will do to you" or "Anthea's hot nights" as we advertised it.
Apparently the dragon was played by 6 dogs in a special harness. There are some nice stones in the movie.
Of course the festival is not entirely mired in the past where, apparently, movies are cheaper and there is a modern Argentinian drama about quarantining people in the outbreak of plague.
"The Cook, the Doctor, his Wife and the Suit" is a light hearted exploration of the shenanigans that result from 3 people all thinking they own a safety suit in a time of plague.

I think next year's film festival might have to be a bit more mainstream,  popcorn sales are the only thing keeping us afloat at the moment.

  1. Suits (& ties) are the plague.

There must be some local delicacies you can flog at a huge mark-up. Think outside the popcorn box.

  4. I actually HAVE a safety suit. It is surprisingly comfortable, and oddly stylish in a post-apocalyptic fashion. Plus, it has many convenient pockets and quick-detachable gloves and booties.

Yeah. That's right. Booties. What, you think Arcturus is wimpy or something?

Anyway. The problem is, I've looked like EVERYWHERE and I can't find the trousers. Have you guys seen 'em anywhere?

  7. The powered exoskeleton is a total swiz. You buy it and take it home and open the packaging and then you find out that the motors at the joints are an "optional extra".

I always thought of my narrow lapel three button seersucker as a 'safety suit' that one could wear in a number of fraught social situations. I may need to re-think this.

Because it rescues you from opportunities for catching STDs?
