Grisly smiles that don't flake off

In a searing expose of the global trade in FACEPALM graphics, manufactured in third-world factories where safety regulations are lax, Rainer Maria Rilke calls our attention to the frightful human cost behind a blogging accessory that most of us take for granted.
For every successful FACEPALM there are several attempts where the timing is incorrect.

Sometimes I wonder how your brain does these things.

"Why" also comes to mind.

Must point out that there is a good description of Tourette's Syndrome in The Notebooks.

Sometimes your face falls off without aggressive palming.

It's really not all that well known, how loosely the whole assembly is fastened together. There are grommets at the top, behind the eyes, and sure, a few rivets, elegantly peened over at the jaw, but the whole lower connection is just a rudimentary "Tab A in Slot B" arrangement reminiscent of nothing so much as the assembly instructions for an Ikea plant stand.

One of the great unknown costs of our current methamphetamine crisis is the increasing numbers of tweakers showing up in emergency rooms, having obsessively picked at their face until the whole sad package just dropped out in the sink. If you ever saw that dumb "Poltergeist", you know what that's like, and you'll contribute to your local recovery program.
