Y'know, there's all sorts of substances that humans can consume in various ways to alter their consciousness. And sometimes, after long term consumption, significant cognitive changes can manifest, and you can often recognize them in various arts and crafts output.

Then again, there are some pieces that just scream organic mental illness from the very start...
