Oil in the Water and Gold in the Hills

Gerry Brownlee Minister for Exploitation says that we will all be rich and all we have to do is Dig up the National Parks and plunder the oceans but he is careful to re-iterate that we must protect our '%100 pure' image. Of course it's not double think or anything like it, it's just having two incompatible ideas in his head at the same time...in a non double think way, of course.
The National Government branding was very slick and professional, sadly they have the same hacks as they have always had.

What? More complaining?

Thought you'd be happy that "your" gov't. is doing such a good job of covering its tracks that y'all are #1 in perception of corruption!

Per the Guardian.

It's radiation that counts in a Geiger sense.
MB we just don't have the money involved to make it worthwhile.
Crikey bit off an earthquake, while I was typing that, the gods are angry.

bit off an earthquake

The disaster-chewing kiwis walk as gods among men, feared even in friendship lest a tornado be farted over a pint.

Crikey It was quite close Backyardish indeed. There is no mention of the second tremor about 30 mins later that felt like the neighbour starting up his 4WD in the driveway. Except THERE WAS NO 4WD.
Mrs Cat slept through them both in a "Calm down you dolts" kind of way.

Isn't there a lot of hydrothermal power generation there? How do the plants fare?

Errata: The RNZ report DOES mention the second 'quake. I'm in a spin this morning.
Plants don't mind earthquakes. They shake around a bit.
Geothermal plants are built for the shakes, I hope.

Perhaps they're afraid your reserves of pure will drop too low if they don't start drilling for it now?

I think that the concentration on the price we can get for the oil points to this being sold off rather than stored. This is classical National party. Sell off the country and the assets for a quick buck, then retire to directorships of oil and coal companies.

Selling off your purity is a sure way to have none, no matter how little you sell or how much you get for it.

Hamish Mack said...

I agree tigris, these guys are going to leave NZ as a bunch of oddly shaped holes in the ground.

If I may apologize to Tigris for not getting the "pure" thang. It's, ah, very 'different' in my head at the moment
