Banks being repressed in NZ

NZ banks to pay repressive taxes what they fuckin well should. So what? Well the Current Account deficit is 1.4 billion. I know that they are different animals but it kinda puts the thievery into perspective. Because not paying your proper taxes on any scale, really, is anti-social at least. Particularly when it is a shirt load like this.
Strangely the New Zild papers are not full of people rushing to the bank's defense.

The tax department said a complex mechanism known as "structured finance" that the banks were using to keep their tax bills down was tantamount to tax avoidance.

...I tried "structured drinking" down the pub - didn't end well.

See now that is the difference between NZ and the good ole USA. Our newspapers will defend the rights of the banks to be tax cheats TO THE DEATH.

That kind of integrity makes us love them all the more.
