Death panelling

Over 100 years old and still relevant. Evidently this touches on a concern that resonates with sectors of the American public. Perhaps because their HEADS ARE EMPTY.

This is sheer emotional blackmail. People will collected by skilled security operatives and taken away in comfortable black vans. The Inmates will be euthanased whilst sitting in Laz-e-boy recliner chairs. Not chased around by mops on poles.
And it will not just be old people.
This cartoon is very very mistaken.

It seems to be a trend among US authors to bring in euthanasia when they're trying to imagine the future. Off the top of my head I can think of "Logan's Run", "The Repairer of Reputations" from Chamber's 'King in Yellow" stories, and a novel by Kate Wilhelm that I can't actually remember. I could probably think of more if I were somewhere else other than the top of my head.

Soylent Green, SC.

Dick Van Patten will come for us all, aided by soft-voiced attractive nursing staff, and played out by music of your choice.

Is that Winsor McCay? I knew he was forward-looking, but I had no idea he'd actually named Obama in his strips!

This looks suspiciously like my Friday nights in the poorer districts of town.
