Insert power related joke here

New Zild is a country overflowing with water. It sloshes around in lakes and streams and some people's backyards (thanks raingod) like a very sloshing thing.
But of course, it can be used to make electricity so that we can watch the fabulous New Zealand team at the world cup (doing great, thanks for asking) and this means that we have to pay. Now in the pre enlightment 70's this was all the gubbermints job and we paid our money ( or not, Dad) and things went along OK. Then we got the 80's to 90's economic rationalisation period of NZ history, also known as  The Great Piratical Rumbustification  and we have semi private corporations and everything is going swimmingly. Except that it is not. Now it appears that when one gets pissed off with the uselessness of the current robber barons in charge of your electricity and one wants to change maybe you can and maybe you can't and maybe they'll do it even if you  tell them not to
Consumer NZ chief executive Sue Chetwin says she logged on to a switching site to test it. Despite later telling the power company she had changed her mind, they switched her anyway, even though the household account is not in her name
How very duplicitous of Ms Chetwin. Power companies are not toys, you know!!

But then we get the the little comment at the end from the Minister for Environmental Destruction Gerry Brownlee
Energy Minister Gerry Brownlee says he will be writing to power companies urging them to lift their game, and he is prepared to regulate if necessary.
Yes! he is going to write them a stern letter and threaten them with regulation, maybe, if like they keep being silly billys and now his butt hurts because the free market hasn't worked in NZ electricity provision and that really sucks, kthnxbi.
I'm not sure of the actual sequence involved with the logic but I think this is one of the reasons that we should be doing offshore drilling.
It's something like
1. Power
2. something
3.something
4. Drilling
5. Profit!!!

New Zealand's fourth largest energy retailer, TrustPower, says the problems are not widespread.

I'd SO like to have a company called "Cross Your Fingers"

This kind of thing is a great inhibitor of secret sex.

I believe I'd prefer to be a customer of Wisconsin Burger rather than TrustPower.

(Yes I can read blogspot posts at work, but I can't respond to them.)
