It is especially toxic if still attached to the lion at the time you're trying to eat it.
However, other sources maintain that the Lion's Mane Hericium coralloides (alias the Icicle fungus) is not only edible, but delicious, with cognitive-enhancing and anti-tumour side effects. Obviously it behooves me to try!

We clean our fungal friend, then mince it.Then it becomes part of baked-potato stuffing. TASTY. Would go well with some crab or lobster or tuna.
Did my family join me in the experiment? DID THEY BOGROLL. There was plenty left over for scrambled eggs the next morning.
Artist's impression of the Clyde dinner table.
Next week's episode of Riddled Mycological Cuisine will be "New Ways with Stinkhorn (Phallus impudicus)". Alternative title: "Dinner at Deviant's Phallus".UPDATED with Bonus Lion's Mane. I think it is growing on the paper. The wood fibres must be decaying.

Sherlock Holmes had no doubt about the toxicity of the Lion's Mane
Nah, he just didn't want to share that mycological bounty, that crumb-bum.
I was going to say that this looks like something Big B would eat but.. he didnt say that he would when he commented.
I'm betting he'd give it a try though.

I love the pic of the Smut Clyde at dinner.
What beverage were you enjoying with your toxic treats?
~
that looks like Lion's Zardoz.
Smut, Don't eat it!
I grew that from one of those kits once. I made mushroom thermidor with it. It was very good, but it didn't regrow in the yard(and now well into the neighbor's yard) like the oysters did once it was spent. I've been considering getting plugs for that and sulfur shelf and inoculating for reals.
Four asterisks and NO PAYOFF. Is this what I pay no money at all for?
Clearly, upon consumption of magic mushrooms, Smut Clyde can kick your asterisk...
The movie "The Cell" had the psychopath suspending himself from wires/chains like your unicorn man. (Fanf*ckingtastic movie, by the way - scared the crap out of me)
Here's a Moist music vid that shows clips:

Looks like something you would stomp on, you shroomstomper.
Wasn't "Shroomstomper" an Australian movie?
Yeah.
With Charlotte Rampling doing the trampling...
I think it is growing on the paper.
This is a side effect of eating mushrooms. Should pass in a couple of hours (along with your understanding of the entire universe).
