No-one at the Old Entomologist was surprised...

... by the information that some caterpillars like to save the old heads from their molted skins, and wear them stacked up in a hommage to Magritte.

After all, they are not the only fans of the Surrealist movement within the animule world. The Madagascan Soluble Fish is well-schooled in the poetry of André Breton, while African nights are regularly enlivened by giraffes setting themselves afire in a gesture of enthusiasm for Dali.

Note also that the "Dress like Uraba Lugens" competition has been a tradition at the Old Entomologist since time immemorial, or last Thursday, whichever came sooner.

Let me take this opportunity to say that I do not in any way begrudge Greenish Hugh for winning last night with his well-thought-out costume.

Nevertheless, there is nothing in the rules to say that "using the Riddled Evolvamat is cheating". Ermintrude van Holsterin totally made that up and I WAS ROBBED.

I think I've seen those!

Never noticed the caterpillars, though. Probably because they use mind control.

Apparently the caterpillars conceal themselves by looking like bird poop. Apart from the "carrying old heads around" and "shaking like bird poop with Parkinsons" aspects of their appearance.

So wait.

Jeffery Dahmer was actually employing an effective survival strategy?

Huh. Hoo Noo?

Right up until the guy with the broomhandle and a signed contract decided to see if he knew the bird poop trick...

For some of us, that's just another Saturday night.

Good gracious, survival is perfectly well accomplished without meat.

You know how it is, there are some that get a little head and want to let the whole world know.
