Low hanging fruit? Sure but whattameye, a monkey?

Just beating the undergrowth in teh intertronic jungle, and whut is this hear? Why it is more paid drivel from that classic no-good Deborah Cone Hill.
So sit back in the old comfy chair ( first check behind the curtains for the Spanish Inquisition)  and enjoy the comedic (as in would be funny if you had just had the Zombie MacDonald's around) stylings of  one of kiwiland's finest....er um well, you know, special thing that there is no evidence for so shut up, that's why.
Oh dear, 3rd sentence in and  it's jagged rocks of perilous seas time:
Then again, I don't have much of an inkling of what the Occupy This and That movement is really wanting.
Pretty good recovery though:
It has a good point about bailed-out bankers' ginormous bonuses: even the unoccupied Wall Street Journal admits that.
But then, all hands on deck!
So why is it that I find myself thinking the protesters seem not inspirational but a bit brattish? It's not just that the ubiquitous Susan Sarandon turns up for a photo opportunity or that there seem to be more college-educated Pilates instructors on the front line than unemployed auto workers.
It sort of circles the plughole for a bit and lets DCH make a few cheap shots (which I think you'll find is in MY contract, actually) about the 99% etc. etc. But then we get to the pay-off and I believe that a cymbal shot would be obligatory with this
The truth is, the world cannot be made perfect: the protesters are like toddlers having a tanty. "It's not fair!" Why should some people be born into money while others are born into poverty? Why should some people be healthier or prettier or more charismatic than others?
Because after you admitted that you don't know what is going on, you can't really pass a judgement about what is going on. An unpublished comment by some person whose name may or may not be AK says:
Profound apologies to The One Bob but:
Something is happening here
and you don't know what it is
Do you, Deborah Hill Cone?
I think The Almighty One could make it rhyme.
So the ship of glibertarian fools and corporate jesters Formally Known as New Zild sails into the sunset unaware that  it is just painted scenery.

I thought the guy who made this comment had a point:

I think I would have liked you better when you were 14.

Well, it's sheer speculation but it would be hard to find someone that you could like less, than the grown-up Cone Hill, who wasn't a Star Wars villain.

Who the hell is Deborah Hill Cone? She sounds like a twat.

Kiwi glibertarian, mouth and pen for hire, knows not much. I remember the first time I saw her on the Teevee on a programme about Race in New Zild where she only made one comment. She couldn't understand how we were still talking about racial issues when NZ was losing international competitiveness all around the world.
But she has a successful career at it

Wow, you guys have assholes of goatse-like proportions, too! Live and learn, live and learn.

I dunno, Jennifer. She was probably an asshole back then too. I'm definitely thinking "mean girl."

I am not normally exposed to her output so I know of her only through the Dim-Post blog.

I think the guy made the comment in reference to her saying she had protested when she was younger... back when she had a heart. OK, I added the heart part.

You would have thought that she might have wandered around a few OWS websites and picked up a clue or two that many of the protesters are angry precisely because they worked for a college education, and generally did everything that they were supposed to, and still turned out to be surplus to requirements. But that would involve intellectual curiosity, and what point is there about taking information from the outside world when one is already blessed with blithe self-absorption and an ideology?

Also I think she is a tad miffed because she had a column prepared about the scruffy stoner wastrel nature of the crowd which turned out to be wasted.

Sounds like all the same stuff we're hearing from wingnuts over here.

They're throwing the kitchen sink. While "evil anti-semitic, violence-prone commie-fascists" doesn't jibe with "silly hippies in drum circles", consistency of attack has never been a problem for them.

I like the current wingnuttian fashion to glide right into "the whole world can never be perfect" so everyone is just a spoiled brat for trying to improve anything.

Status Quo all the way, baby!
