Why is a turtle even IN the desert?

I'd be afraid it was an IED...

Yesterday was Budget day in the Shire and Mrs. Collins was all twittery with her own Mean-15-year-old-style.
I do not rate for her replicant or not.

Asher, a question.

You’re in a desert walking along in the sand when all of the sudden you look down, and you see a tortoise, it’s crawling toward you. You reach down, you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can’t, not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why is that?

@ Nabakov

Your question betrays a fundamental ignorance of human behavior, emotion and cognition. If you can explain how it sheds light on human behavior in mass society I might be tempted to answer it.

If he wanted to help, he wouldn't have flipped the tortoise onto its back in the first place.

Kuh-reist, how do these monsters get elected in the first place?

I didn't read that far down the CT thread. I got as far as Asher re-defining the word "violence" to include "any possible possible future consequences to discourage me from doing what I like", and deducing that any form of government was therefore violent, and presenting this as an empirical fact. Didn't bother reading any further.

Have you seen what turtles can do?

I suspect she'd do worse with the next question, "Describe in single words only the good things that come into your mind about your mother."
