Many difficult-to-articulate phenomena are best studied in the negative: that is, by identifying the variables that produce the absence of the phenomenon in question. With that in mind, I propose a symposium in which we shall produce the absence of consciousness in various ways, including but not limited to GABA agonists such as malt whisky.

Your symposium is already a road show. 250 whiskies and 3 hours to sample them. I don't remember any guys in white coats though, which leads me to believe they were observing us through covert means.
GABA GABA Hey!
~
I think everything sounds like more fun if it is followed by "fest"
Colonoscopy Fest!
Hemorrhoid Fest!
Priapism Fest!
Lawn Mowing Fest!
Okay, the last one doesn't sound that fun.
Next time the Lovely Bride finds me "asleep" on the couch I'll tell her it was research.
The fact that you've proven your findings are replicable should convince her.
And I'll be happy to serve as your control group, lacking consciousness BEFORE ingesting the substance in question.
This will clear up any questions about the lack of a double - blind methodology...
Nothing says apex predator like lawn mowing.
bartu, sort of a weird drinking virtue.

Fish is stealing comments from some other blog, probably one that mentions Summerfest.
Nothing says apex predator like lawn mowing.
Especially if the lawn mower person has been conducting consciousness experiments with Single Malts.
Road show = fest.

Oh this is easy. Watch boob consciousness develop as Dolly Parton walks into a room.

For some reason this reminds me of the time I was staying with friends at the Freie Universität in Berlin, and they housed me in the Primate observation room. They reckoned the cameras were disconnected.
Even to this day, the sight of a bunch of bananas behind a barrier and an assortment of bamboo poles is enough to trigger me.
Panbanisha's facility with language begins to make more sense...
Weve been having ColonoscopyFest for several years now in my virtual environment in Second Life. Its based on given the golden polyp award to someone whos actually had the procedure, to celebrate their intestinal fortitude.
