Trouble in Hobbitville!!!

Yes, the scones for second morning tea were quite late. No wait! that was the former workplace. That miscreant was hung and every Friday is "Leave your chains at home" day. But I digress.
It seems that some ungrateful actors are wishing to be paid for the privilege of being in a movie made by Sir Peter Jackson the wretches. Not only will it cause tears at bedtime, it already has Hollywood running scared according to a person  who said:
Hollywood dailies already have the dispute on their front pages, and New Zealand reputation as a film-friendly destination is being affected.
and another person says:
the country's international reputation is at stake because of the dispute.
And Sir PJ says:
"It sure feels like our thuggish Aussie cousin is kicking sand in our eyes ... or to put it another way, they are opportunists exploiting our film for their own political gain."
Yikes, will the jackboot in the face of New Zild, of actors wanting to get paid in something other than tins of dog food  kill off the film industry??? Sir PJ says that Eastern Europeans will do the film if we don't and also that it's not fair.
Also:
Screen Production and Development Association chief executive Penelope Borland says the demands don't stack up to the industrial relations environment here.
Which is probably true. Serfdom is what we like, it's for our own good.

This is the lemon beside the pie, you wait, the Govt. will have to help out next...like last time, and that other last time.
Hobbiton, not quite the way you want it.

As long as there is whisky for "elevenses", all is well.

Hobbiton, not quite the way you want it.

Sounds more like Galt's Gulch.

exploiting our film for their own political gain

First I have heard of anyone anywhere wanting to exploit something to gain something. Thank god Mr. Jackson is above such base motives.

I do like a bit of workplace blackmail. On good faith innit?
New Line, Warner Bros Pictures and MGM, said their general policy was to avoid filming in locations where there was potential for "work force uncertainty".

Where do those yanks get off, describing NZ cast and film-crew as Mexicans with cellphones?
Surely the real "Mexicans with cellphones" would be Mexicans.

Come now, Merc, Hollywood studios need our subsidies and tax-breaks in order to make movies here. Sure, they may not pay any tax, but without those studios, the NZ film industry would wither away and we would lose the infrastructure and expertise required for losing money on movies in the future.

You have reason.
