The pills that Mother gives you

A more sensible blog has apprised me of the existence of homeopathic immunisation. The list of contractable diseases that can be prevented with a homeopathic vaccine is a long one, but surprisingly it does not include rabies.

This is a pity. People who have been bitten by a rabid animal, and face the prospect of an agonising death through convulsions and dementia and eventual respiratory failure, should definitely have the option of a homeopathic vaccine and homeopathic immunoglobulin as an alternative to the mainstream-medicine versions.

As yet there is no homeopathic replacement for the only other clinically-proven preventative treatment for rabies:
amputation of the affected limb might thwart rabies, if the bite or exposure was on an arm or leg
Also, remember what the dormouse said.

Your mom didn't give me no pills, but she did give me something else. Heh.

Since death from rabies occurs only after it has reahed the central nervous system, I can think of at least one other cure.

Babies with Rabies would be a pretty good band name.

Take influenza, for example. Here's an evidence review from our Ministry of Health - a meta-analysis of a number of studies examining claims for a homeopathic 'remedy' called oscillococcinum (made from the liver of a dead duck, by the way, although it's so highly diluted that you would be hard-pressed to find any evidence at all of duck in your liquid or pills).

What? That's just a rip-off! If you need a good and bloody duck-liver to offset those sniffles I can set you up in a jiffy.

What if they only excise one-millionth of the affected limb?

I still wish to know whether the duck was dead before or after the removal of the liver, and if the former, how much longer before.

That is not how the Doctrine of Similars works, B^4. Rather, the homeopathic remedy for limb amputation is to be attacked by a very diluted (or very small) axe-wielding viking.

I guess what it means is that licking my table cures everything. And the front bumper of my car, but no details on that one.

They do that for the vegetarians. Like how the porcivagitus is kosher AND halal!
