For some folks, change is bad and sometimes that means that you have to deny reality. To this end, a group of bigots who are agitated about teh GHAYZ being at their once beloved cluster fuck, have taken out a full (fool) paged ad decrying the possibility that they might catch gay germs.
As the clincher they ask what 100 year old (but now convincingly dead) Ronald Reagan would think of the Conservolypse what with all the gay types smelling up the place.
One might as well ask what other convincingly dead people would think of the blechfest and the small minded throwbacks and their boo-hooing about homo cooties.
And then again what Ronnie thought about gays considering he worked alongside some pretty famous ones. Or if Ronnie realised that he wasn't in that movie because it was real life...or was it?
All in all it is a sad look when you wrap a dead guy in a flag and try and pretend that you know what he thought about something 7 years after Alzheimers killed him.

What would Ronald Reagan say???
BRAAAAIIIINNNNNSSSS
I've always been sort of amazed that the bigotry plank is hammered in right next to the Christian fellowship plank in the Republican party. I don't even know how that works out to a consistent process of thought. I'm also not too sure why bigoted straight people object to the mere presence of gay people in society -- it's as if they think that, presented with a viable alternative, all of the world's straights will suddenly desert their own sexual orientation like rats fleeing a sinking ship, sigh in relief, and then gleefully marry a person of the same sex, just to annoy them. Which does not sound like a vote of confidence for the normalcy and holy righteousness of heterosexuality to me.
Also Ronald Reagan left his first wife to marry a pregnant Nancy Davis, and he neither attended church nor conducted services in the White House. So, if he wished to condemn the perceived sexual indiscretions of other Americans, he had a long way to go to get to the moral high ground. And, anyway, the only comments he would've had about CPAC this year would have been whatever Ed Meese or some other top-level criminal/Cabinet member/aide had written down on a card and handed to him just before the press conference started, also too.
He'd be disappointed that there were still some around who weren't wiped out by AIDS.
As a moderately convincing dead person, I find it HILARIOUS.
Fuck Ronald Reagan's mouldering corpse with a bulldozer.
He would think "Yummy banana mush."

Yeah, it's like Christianity without that inconvenient Jesus guy. They should just call it Neo-Mosaicism or convert to Wahabist Islam.
Neo-Mosaicism
This is when half the cells in your body have the mutant gene to bend reality and the other half are ordinary.
There is a lot of inconsistencies revealed by that Jesus guy. Troublemaker!!!
These religious people are so ghastly that the GOP should just dump them. I mean fuckit, shall we move beyond the 14th Century, or what?
Jesus = Neo-Mosaicism. Also.
I was wondering what the smarter Republicans* think about the Reagan cult of personality. Do they take it seriously themselves, or join in with a mixture of indulgence and cynicism, like an adult pretending to believe in Santa? Because the contrast between the undenied reality (Reagan as amiable half-senile doofus who enjoyed jellybeans, reading out other people's speeches, and dozing off while other people made decisions) vs. the idea of celebrating his centennial is a tad glaring.
I assume they're aware that the whole idea of a Reagan Legacy might be accepted by most of the US elite but it is sadly unsupported by facts. I can see that "Reagan = Greatest Person Evah" is a useful shibboleth but it also has a kind of symbolic fragility (like Christmas, On-which-there-is-a-war). Hence the anxiety that no flaws AT ALL can be admitted; then the whole edifice of bullshit might crumble.
* I.e. the ones who try to talk their party into accepting reality on questions like evolution and climate change, or who resign from the Colorado chairmanship on account of all the nuts.
I would imagine that the Santa Claus analogy works quite well. But it would be a GOP person with a terminal disease who would ever admit it.
Many of the Reaganistas are also big on Winston Churchill with much the same attitudes. But at least Churchill could be said to have held Great Britain together when their backs were truly up against the wall and the blindfolds were being passed around.
Reagan apparently just made people feel good about themselves in the face of big hair and Pac-man.
