No one could have forseen this

One expects a certain amount of arseholery from conservative National party governments in this green and pleasant land so no surprises there or here. Cheeky monkeys! who will be next in line for the bash, cosh or chainsaw?
I'm picking the union movement. NZ emasculated unions steadily in th 1990's and they are a pale shadow of what they used to be however this wraith-like presence can still send the Nats into hysteria at the drop of an unsafely overloaded crane.
There are some super little stories emerging here.
The Waihi open cast goldmine returns 16 grams per truckload. Plus, through a tax loop-hole no money comes into NZ from the mining, it all goes to somewhere else, just sayin' it might be the US, maybe, IT IS!!!
The Prime Minister says that none of the mining will be open cast, new technologies will ensure that no one will hardly notice the mines, SO JUST SHUT UP.
Also the beneficiaries who will be bashed, are very bad. They all sit around doing nothing and have a culture of welfare dependancy. How many of these miscreants are there?? Well the minister didn't know, quite a lot she thinks and JUST SHUT UP. There were no plans announced for how the depressed job market was going to cope with the 60,000 new job seekers who want jobs during school hours and outside of school holidays.

Amazing how other governments can even consider this Reagan/Bush/Thatcher nonsense after the past eight years.

yeh.

until you have prominent media personalities threatening violent insurrection over slightly improving health care in a way that benefits insurance companies most of all, you're just a redcap before the kiss.

Do not underestimate the ability of NZ conservative governments to wait for other countries to show how badly a policy experiment fails, and then adopt it. It's as if they get it cheaper that way.

The Education Minister is all about imposing the No-Child-Left-Behind policy on schools.

Their ambitions for the National Parks are all
Desolate landscape
Storybook bliss

It's so quiet after you've killed all of the noisy birds.
I had forgotten about Ann "off her" Tolley and the Year zero school plan.
Now a graduate of this here learnin' and such institution is in charge of Tertiary Education. Woo hoo, this must be why my job is in the firing line, so to speak.

Why not just fund government with hobbit movies?

Because Jacko wont take the pay cut.

Also the franchise is kind of finished. I thought the last Hobbit movie with the nuns and the joke name was pretty lame

Remember the giant hobbit on the island hobbit movie. Jacko got 30m free money for that one.

Brownlie was on the radio the other day mentioning rare-earth ores as the really lucrative ingredient of NZ's mountains. IIRC the Chinese govt. is specifically concerned about rare-earth elements and has been buying countries to ensure continued access to them.

Put my hand on a dollar bill, and the dollar bill blew away.

This is a place for SERIOUS DISCUSSION, Mr McGravitas, not a place for random music videos.
Harumph

I am seriously concerned about Rare Earth! There is a wah-wah pedal shortage and NZ has a stranglehold on the wah-wah bird supply!
